Keepin' busy

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Here we are in Finland NOT getting to dress up for Halloween AGAIN. I'm actually ok with it since it saves money on a useless costume I will never wear again because no one can see me in the same costume twice. Don't worry we are going to bring in Halloween with Hocus Pocus and some candy tonight after dinner!

Onto the real subject of the day, I literally rack my brain daily of things to keep me busy. I have categorized all my pictures on my computer into detailed folders, organized my iTunes and downloaded tons of oldies and newbies, clean pretty much daily, do laundry every other day and cook time consuming meals just so I won't go out of my mind with boredom.

While at times it is nice to be have nothing to do so I can catch up on shows or dig into my bible, but in all seriousness I don't want to become crazy. BTW Finland is in the top 20 of suicide rates. Like, how absolutely depressing is that?! Yeah, so I would like to refrain from suicide and keep myself busy. (Ok, totally kidding I wouldn't take it that far.)

My mom suggested I learn to crochet. SO, challenge accepted I shall learn. I picked up some basic black yarn and the materials I needed so I can start learning tomorrow while Brad will be gone all freakin' day for an away game. Once I get this crochet thing down don't you fret you will get a scarf or some socks for every present needed occasion ;)

Trying to keep busy may seem crazy, like hello I should be loving my down time, but after what almost 3 months of it now I could go for busy weeks. Any suggestions on what else to do?

Playing Catch Up

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

There really hasn't been anything too incredibly exciting going on except our normal day to day stuff. I figure now is as good of a time as any to do iPhone photo recaps of whats been up and just talk. Plus, I'm bowing out of Menu Monday this week since I am only doing two exciting dishes that I will post recipes and photos later as we eat them. :)

Hubs went moose hunting for the first time last Sunday! He was like a little kid in a candy store. Not my forte, but totally his.

We love getting precious pictures of our nieces and nephews, heres a few. They grow so much in 8 months! Wait, we just saw them 4 months ago! crazy...

Finally got to wear my new cardi for Brads game Saturday. A little peek of the outfit :)

Saturday Brad had a basketball game. It has been so rainy and ugly outside lately. We had the joys of walking in it to and from the game, but we got some photo action in. It was an awesome tough game.

After his game we came home and drank some of these Finnish ciders. Can you say yummy?! Boy do they sneak up on ya! We popped some popcorn and watched our boys play some football. Yes, Tech lost but we had an awesome game. OSU we're comin' for you!

We received an awesome little care package from our sweetest friends with our favorite goodies! I am particularly excited about the applesauce and caramel Starbucks coffee packets.

We are hoping my parents will be here in three weeks and then I am sure I will have many pictures of the adventures we will take them on! Have a blessed rest of the week! :)

Be still.

Monday, October 28, 2013

It rained pretty much rained all week/weekend, but yesterday when we went out for our walk and it was a gorgeous day. I enjoy so very much just basking in all of Gods glory. I know that home(America) is beautiful too. It is just so different being overseas in Gods creations that others may not ever get the chance to see.

Having a lot of time on my hands, I have really been digging into the word and being still in the Lord. Gods path is the best path and we just need to stop with all of the distractions and draw near to him. I am a very big planner and so I try to plan out every aspect of our lives. First of all, with Brads job it is hard to have a set in stone plan when things could change in any minute. Also, with him having this job it has helped me to be still and trust in the Lord more than ever. Every year I let go of my control over the way our lives are "supposed" to be. I mean we have dealt with wonder since we were dating of where we would go next and some people look at us crazy, but it is part of Gods path for us. We have been able to witness to people all over the world. I wouldn't call us missionaries, but we get to spread Gods love in many ways. God sending Brad to be a basketball player overseas is a blessing. He gets to do what he absolutely loves and we're riding along as God opens and closes doors.

Brad and I have been doing the Love Dare devotional since we came overseas and last night it had us read James 1:19. Boy does this verse always hit home. I am always the one that has to have the last word. Yep, one of my many faults. I am lucky to have Brad be so calm because I am the one with a quick temper. When someone offends me or my family I am always wanting to give it to them, but God does not want me to be that way. I need to think about what is going on and say nothing at all. You never know the background of another or what exactly they are thinking to make them say the things they are. It doesn't always make them right, but I have got to learn to listen and think before always speaking. Relationships of any kind can be a tricky thing. With all of this being said I am adoring being still in the Lord and just letting God take care of everything. It is so nice to just sit back and continue thanking God for all that he has done and yet to do. God is good and always has our best interest at heart. Listen to him every once in awhile it'll do ya good. I know it does for me:)

Fur Baby Fall Link Up!

This weeks fall link up has to do with babies, kiddos or those fur babies. Referring back to my post about Allie Girl  I still tremendously miss her and we officially don't get to have her here. Sad Sad day. My parents are so good about sending us pictures almost daily. They really are the best fur-grandparents EVER! (Bad quality due to all of these pictures being taken with phones, but she is still so cute!)
Mom sent us this saying "Good luck at your game daddy!" Seriously so perfect & just made our day.
She is seriously getting huge! I mean 5 whole pounds ;) She now takes up the whole arm of the couch! We had to order her a new pink house so she isn;t squished at night anymore. Yep, we're mean and don;t let her sleep with us. Although she takes plenty of naps in our bed :)
On Saturday night we got to have a Skype date with her and my parents! It is seriously the cutest thing watching her be so curious as to why she can hear us and see us but can't lick us.

Oh, how we miss her so!! Be sure to check out all the other Link Ups for this week. There are some pretty cute kiddos and fur-babies!

Cinnamon Roll Cake

Well, my mom had shared this recipe on Facebook awhile back and I have been dying to try it. It all in all was super easy. I am really bad about using lots of bowls and utensils. Well, this is one of those where you have no choice. It is one of those you can't help but grab a tall glass of milk to have with it. My hubby and some of his teammates sure enjoyed it :)

Can't stop watching

Thursday, October 24, 2013

In reality all we pretty much do with our free time is watch TV Series or movies. If you are living overseas or need somewhere to catch up on shows go to ProjectTV. Its AMAZE-ing. We are probably pretty close to seeing all of the good series out there. Here are a few of our all time favs thus far in no particular order....
We have loved this show since we first met 4 years ago! I mean and Shemar Moore....

Why oh why is it over?!

Are they not just so cute? Love a good crime show.

Once again why is it done?!

I'm still confused on what all went on. lol

oh Michael Scofield.

When I was a little girl, my understanding of revenge was as simple as the Sunday school proverbs it hid behind.

this has to happen in real life, right?

Charlie Hunnam and a MC, need I say more

We love Zombies

Let's be real Brad won't watch this so it is more my show and I am obsessed with vampires. I dream about them constantly. I am always a good Vamp.

Brad used to watch this until he realized that are carrying it on way too long. Oh well I love them girls.

I have never been a religious watcher of this show but started catching up in Spain and was hooked. I don't understand why any TV series has to end. ha.

Any TV Series we are missing out on? We are always up for more!
