Today I'm going to give you all of my tips and tricks to travel frugally. I know you guys want to Save Money Traveling Like a Boss. Below I have a graphic Personal Capital created on the top tips they see fit. I found myself going through it saying, "yup, yup, YUP". I know for the ones that already do a lot of traveling will be thinking the same thing. For those of you that are getting an itch on to hit the road this will be just what you need to get your booty in gear. They even have a Financial Planning Tool that is extremely helpful. Be sure to check that out!
-First things first, we always look into flight prices when about to travel. Honestly, flying with a kiddo is easy peasy compared to a long road trip. Our favorite sites to check are EasyJet and Ryanair. If you pack in just a backpack/carry on while being flexible with your dates your set. A lot of times we have found Wednesdays and Saturdays to carry the cheapest rate. A one-way for 9 Euros?! Gimme. If you have the opportunity of having your own car depending on your drive that can be the cheaper route. We can get a full tank of gas for 40 Euros right now which gets us 5 hours. Make sure to add in parking cost with your gas costs. That can be when flying becomes cheaper and obviously more convenient. Some car parks can charge up to 30 Euros for a day. Holy smokes, no thanks!
-Booking.com is our go to for Hotels, Hostels, and Apartments. We always find ourselves overachieving. We expect to get some small, basic hotel room that ends up being so big and beautiful for a wonderful price/perfect location. Their reviews are spot on which has sold us more times than not. As also listed in the graphic below, signing up for hotel rewards for each place you stay can be helpful. You'll be surprised how many American hotel chains are also in Europe that you can use your points at.
-I am over here screaming FREE! When visiting look for all the free things to do. You do not, I repeat do not want to fall into the tourist trap. I mean, yes it's fun to do all the touristy things from time to time, but be cautious or you can rack up the bucks. Pick 1 to 3 things that are an absolute must and stick to free for the rest of the time. More times than not you will enjoy doing those things better than the costly. Online you can find tons of coupons for attractions. Also, if you book multiple attraction tickets through a company they will give you a discount. A major selling point if you are in groups. Most hotels will hand you a booklet with a map, info, and coupons. If they don't, ask for it. Don't be shy get your free spree on!
You guys already know I am a huge component for trying to convince everyone to come to Europe and now I've just given you the golden ticket. Come one, come all! Shoot you can even couch surf at my place.
